Update your driver profile and contact information

Your name, email, and shift details live on your Upper driver profile, set by your admin in the web app. Here's what you can change in the app and what to ask dispatch for.

Your driver profile in Upper holds the details that keep your routes running — the email you sign in with, your shift schedule, your start and end addresses, and your vehicle settings. Most of these are set by your admin or dispatcher in the web app. A few preferences you can change yourself in the driver app, if your admin has allowed it.

Depending on your workspace, your role may be labelled Driver or Technician — the steps are the same either way.

What lives on your profile

When your admin adds you to Upper, they create your user profile and set it up in the web app's Edit User panel. That profile includes:

  • The email address you use to sign in
  • Your shift schedule (start and end times)
  • Your start and end addresses for the route
  • Your vehicle settings that affect routing
  • Your default navigation map

These travel with you onto the phone — when you sign in, your assigned routes appear set up the way your admin configured them.

What you can change in the app

What you're allowed to change yourself depends on App Config, a set of permissions your admin controls in the web app. If a setting is turned on for your workspace, you can change it from the driver app; if it's off, it stays locked to the web app.

Two profile-related preferences are commonly available in the app:

  • Default navigation map — you can switch which map app Upper hands off to (Google, Apple, Waze, and others). See Switch between navigation apps.
  • Start and end addresses — if your admin has enabled Override the default schedule in App Config, you can change your own start and end addresses in the app.

Not sure whether you can change something? Open the app's settings and look for it. If the option is there, you can edit it. If it isn't, your admin has kept it locked to the web app — ask dispatch to make the change for you.

What your admin changes for you

Your name, the email you sign in with, your shift schedule, and your vehicle settings are managed by your admin in the web app, not in the driver app. When any of these needs to change, ask your admin or dispatcher.

Contact your admin or dispatcher

Reach out to whoever manages your routes and tell them what needs updating — a new email, a different shift time, or a change to your vehicle or addresses.

Confirm the change is saved

Ask them to confirm once they've saved it in the web app.

Sign in again if needed

If your sign-in email changed, sign out and back in with the new email so the app picks up the update.

What your admin does on the web app

Share this with your admin if they're not sure where to look. From the web app, an admin opens the Users page, finds your name, opens the row menu beside it, and edits your details in the Edit User panel — then saves.

Need a new password rather than a profile change? That's a separate flow — see Reset your driver password or Change your password from the app.
