Allow location and camera permissions
Grant Location, Camera, and Notification permissions so the Upper driver app can track your route, capture proof of delivery, and alert you to new work.
The Upper driver app asks for a few phone-level permissions so it can do its job on the road: Location, Camera, and Notifications. Grant them when the app prompts you the first time you open it, or turn them on later from your phone's Settings.
Your workspace may label drivers as technicians and show Proof of Service instead of Proof of Delivery. The permissions below work the same either way.
What each permission is for
| Permission | What it enables in the app |
|---|---|
| Location | Sends your live location back to dispatch (when Live Location is enabled by your admin) so they can track your route on the map. |
| Camera | Capturing proof-of-delivery photos, scanning barcodes at a stop, and scanning the install QR code. |
| Notifications | Alerts when a new route is shared to you and other route updates from dispatch. |
Grant permissions on iOS
Allow Location
When the prompt appears, tap Allow While Using App (or Always Allow).
Allow Camera
When the camera prompt appears, tap Allow.
Allow Notifications
When the notifications prompt appears, tap Allow.
To change a permission later, open iPhone Settings, find Upper in the app list, and toggle each permission.
Grant permissions on Android

Allow Camera

Allow Notifications

To change a permission later, open Phone Settings > Apps > Upper > Permissions and toggle each one.
Location matters most while you're running a route. If your admin has Live Location turned on, dispatch can only see your position when Location is granted. If you tapped Deny by mistake, switch it back on in your phone's Settings before you start your next route.
