Capture proof of delivery

Capture proof of delivery in the Upper driver app with photos, a signature, and notes. Your admin sets which are required, and they sync back to dispatch.

Proof of delivery (POD) is the evidence you attach to a stop to show what happened there — a photo, a signature, and notes. In the Upper driver app you capture these as you complete a stop, and they travel back to your dispatcher's web app along with timestamps.

If your workspace is set up for service work, you may see Proof of Service and Service Notes instead of Proof of Delivery and Notes. The labels are configurable per workspace; the steps are the same.

What proof of delivery includes

POD is made up of three kinds of evidence:

TypeWhat it captures
ImagesA photo of where the package was left, the condition on arrival, or the recipient at the door
SignatureAn on-screen signature from the person accepting the delivery
NotesTyped context that a photo can't show — what was said or agreed at the stop

Your admin decides which of these you're prompted for, and whether they're required before you can finish a stop. These requirements are set in the web app under the driver app's Proof of Service settings, and they can be configured separately for completed stops and for skipped stops. So a workspace might, for example, require a photo to complete a stop but require only a note to skip one.

Your admin can also turn on Complete / Skip on click, which lets you finish a stop in a single tap. When that's on, the per-stop photo, signature, and note requirements don't apply — the two settings are mutually exclusive. If your stops complete instantly without prompting you for evidence, this is why.

Capture POD at a stop

Open the stop

Tap the stop you've arrived at to open its detail view.

Add the evidence you're prompted for

Capture each element your workspace asks for:

  • Photo — tap the camera control and take a photo. If your admin has enabled image upload from gallery, you can also pick an existing photo instead of taking a new one.
  • Signature — hand the phone to the recipient and have them sign on screen.
  • Notes — tap the notes field and type any context worth recording.

Complete the stop

Finish the stop to attach the POD to it. If any element is marked required, you won't be able to complete the stop until it's captured.

What dispatch sees

Once a dispatched route is finished, the completed stops appear in the web app under Tasks > Completed, where your dispatcher can review them with their proof of delivery, timestamps, and notes. The completed-stop view can display columns including the photo, signature, notes, note from driver, and arrival time.
