Switch between navigation apps
Set your Default Navigation Map in the Upper driver app to choose which mapping app opens for turn-by-turn directions: Google, Apple, Waze, and more.
Upper lets you pick which mapping app handles navigation on your route. Set your Default Navigation Map once, and every time you tap Navigate on a stop, Upper hands off the stop's address to the app you chose.
Supported navigation apps
Your Default Navigation Map can be set to any of these:
- Apple
- Waze
- Map's.Me
- Yandex
- Sygic
- In App Navigation (Upper's own built-in navigation)
The app you pick must be installed and signed in on your phone for the handoff to work — the exception is In App Navigation, which runs inside Upper itself. In App Navigation is an optional add-on, so it appears in the list only when your admin has added it to your workspace.
Before you start
- Your preferred mapping app installed and signed in on your phone
- Permission to change navigation settings — your admin can set a default for you, and may lock it from the web app
Set your default navigation app
Open the Upper driver app.
Go to your navigation settings and find Default Navigation Map.
Select the app you want — for example, Google, Apple, Waze, or In App Navigation.
Save the change.
The next time you tap Navigate on a stop, the app you selected opens with the stop address loaded.
Test your choice before starting a route. Open Upper, tap Navigate on a stop, and confirm the right app opens with the correct address.
Your admin sets a default navigation app for you from the web app (Settings > General > User Settings > Default Navigation Map) and can lock it. If the setting is locked or missing in the app, contact your dispatcher to change it.
Troubleshooting
If your workspace uses Technician/Service labels, the steps are the same — only some wording differs.
