Mobile Driver App

Minimum OS version requirements

The Upper driver app needs a recent iOS or Android version to install and run. If you can't find or install it, check your phone's OS and update to the latest.

The Upper driver app needs a reasonably recent operating system to install and run reliably. Older phones may not see the app in their store at all, or may fail to install it. Confirming that a phone meets the current minimum before you hand it to a driver — or before you buy new devices in bulk — avoids a Day-1 blocker.

Your workspace may label the role Driver or Technician depending on how your company set up Upper. The operating-system requirements are the same either way.

Why this matters

A driver who can't install the app can't run a route. The app stores hide an app from any phone that's below its supported OS version, so a too-old device simply won't see Upper as an option to download.

Check the current minimum on the store listing

The most reliable place to see the exact minimum OS version is the app's own store listing — it always reflects the current build. Open the app's page in the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android) and look at the listing's compatibility or "About" details.

Open your phone's app store

Open the App Store on iPhone or Google Play on Android.

Find the Upper driver app

Search for the Upper driver app and open its listing. Confirm the publisher is Upper Inc.

Read the compatibility details

The listing shows whether your phone is supported. If the store says the app is incompatible with your device, your OS version is too old for the current build.

Keep your phone's operating system updated to the latest version your device supports. The newest OS gives you the best performance and the latest security fixes, and keeps you eligible for app updates.

Before you buy phones in bulk

If you're ordering new devices for a team of drivers, check the current minimum OS on the store listing first and make sure the phones you're buying ship with — or can update to — a supported version. This avoids unboxing devices that can't run the app.
