Average route completion time

See route completion time in Upper: average route counts on the Dashboard, plus exact estimated vs. actual duration per route in the Route Plan Summary Report.

Route completion time tells you whether your routes are planned realistically. In Upper you can see it two ways: the Dashboard summarizes how many routes were completed in a period, and the Route Plan Summary Report in Analytics shows the exact estimated vs. actual duration for each route. Comparing the two is the fastest way to spot routes that consistently run longer than planned.

Your workspace may show Technician and Service labels instead of Driver and Delivery. These labels are configurable per workspace; the steps are identical either way.

How completion time is measured

  • Est Duration is the estimated route time Upper calculates when the route is planned.
  • Actual Duration is the recorded time the route actually took once it is completed.
  • Durations are based on historical traffic data, so estimates reflect typical conditions for the day and time rather than a single live reading.

Actual Duration only fills in for completed routes. Routes still in Draft, Ready for Dispatch, Dispatched, or In Transit will not yet show an actual duration.

See completed-route totals on the Dashboard

The Dashboard gives you the high-level picture across a date range.

Open the Dashboard (home page).

Use the date-range control in the top-right to choose your period. Presets are Today, Yesterday, 7 days, 30 days, 90 days, and Custom. The default is the last 7 days.

Read the Total Routes Completed and Total Stops Completed KPI cards, and the Routes chart in the Route Performance section, to see completion activity across the selected range.

On the Starter (free) plan the Route Performance and Driver Performance sections are blurred behind an Upgrade to View button with a PRO badge. The five KPI cards (including Total Routes Completed) stay visible on every plan.

See exact estimated vs. actual duration per route

For per-route completion time, use the Route Plan Summary Report in Analytics.

In the left sidebar, open Track → Analytics.

From the View by dropdown, select Route Plan Summary Report. This report shows one row per route.

Open the Filter panel (filter icon, top-right) and set the Date Range. You can also narrow by Drivers, Select Route Plan, and Route Plan Status (filter the status to Completed to see only finished routes). Click Apply.

Read the Est Duration and Actual Duration columns side by side. The gap between them is your signal for how realistic the plan was.

The Summary Report can include these columns: Route Name, Driver Team, Date, Est Duration, Actual Duration, Status, Total Stops, Delivered Stops, Skipped/Missed Stops, and Created By. Use the Customize Columns icon (top-right) to open the Edit Column modal, then check, uncheck, and drag columns to choose which appear and in what order. Your choices are saved per report.

Most columns are sortable — click the caret on Actual Duration to bring the longest-running routes to the top, then compare them against their Est Duration to find where plans and reality diverge.

Export the data

To work with completion times outside Upper:

With the Route Plan Summary Report open, click Export (top-right).

In the Export modal, set the Export File Name and choose a Format (CSV or XLS).

Under Fields, keep Default or switch to Custom to pick exactly which columns to include and their order. Optionally tick Send e-mail when Export is complete, then click Start Export.
