Reset a driver's password as an admin

Reset any driver's password from Upper's Manage → Users list. Set a new password in the row action menu, then share the credentials so the driver can log back in.

When a driver is locked out, you don't have to wait for them to recover the account on their own. As an admin, you can reset any driver's password directly from Manage → Users in Upper and hand them new credentials so they can get back on the road.

Upper uses the label driver by default, but your workspace may show Technician instead (and delivery may appear as service). The steps are identical whichever label your account uses.

Why this matters

Drivers forget passwords, swap phones, and lose devices. The admin-driven reset lets you restore access from the web app right away, rather than depending on the driver to work through a self-service recovery flow.

Before you start

  • Permissions — You need an admin-level role to reset a driver's password.
  • A secure way to share the new password — A direct message, in person, or a short-lived shared note.

Reset a driver's password

Open the action menu

Go to Manage → Users in the left sidebar and find the driver in the list. Click the kebab (three-dot) Action icon at the end of their row.

Select Reset User Password

Choose Reset User Password from the menu.

Set the new password and save

Enter the new password for the driver, then save the change.

Once you've saved, share the new password with the driver so they can log in.

Set a temporary password and ask the driver to change it the first time they log in. That way the password you sent over a messaging app doesn't stay valid long-term.

Common scenarios

  • Driver forgot their password — Reset it, share the new one, and ask them to update it once they're logged in.
  • Driver lost their phone — Reset the password and use Logout From All Devices from the same action menu to end any sessions on the lost device.
  • Routine security rotation — Some teams rotate driver passwords on a schedule. Use the admin reset flow to set a fresh password for each driver from the same list.
