Drivers receive login credentials
How drivers get their Upper login: an admin adds them under Manage, Users with their email, then they download the driver app and sign in. Plus how to recover a missed invite.
A driver gets access to Upper as soon as an admin adds them under Manage → Users. You enter the driver's email when you add them, Upper notifies them, and the driver signs in to the mobile app with that email. There is no shared team password — each driver signs in with their own email.
Your workspace may label drivers as Technicians and deliveries as Service, so you might see Users/Technicians instead of Users/Drivers. The steps are the same either way. This guide uses the default driver/delivery wording.
How a driver gets access
An admin adds the driver
In the left sidebar, go to Manage → Users, then click + Add User. Enter the driver's Name, Email, and the Driver role, along with any vehicle and shift settings. The email address you enter is the one the driver will sign in with.
Upper notifies the driver at that email
Upper sends the driver a message at the address on their profile so they know an account is waiting for them.
The driver downloads the Upper driver app
Drivers run their routes from the Upper Route Planner app for Technician, available on the Apple App Store and Google Play.
The driver signs in
The driver opens the app and signs in with their email. From here they can see assigned routes once you dispatch them.
If the notification doesn't arrive within a few minutes, ask the driver to check their spam or junk folder. Mail from a new sender often lands there, especially on company-managed Gmail and Outlook accounts.
Setting or resetting a driver's password
If a driver can't sign in, an admin can set a new password directly from the Users list — no waiting on the driver:
Open the driver's row menu
Go to Manage → Users, find the driver, and click the kebab (…) menu in the Action column.
Choose Reset Password
Select Reset User Password, enter the new password, and confirm to save.
Share the new password securely
Send the password to the driver over a secure channel and ask them to sign in with their email and the new password.

Driver visibility of performance metrics
Drivers don't see their own performance metrics in the Upper driver app. Admins and Dispatch Managers view all driver metrics on the web Dashboard.
Edit driver details
Edit any driver's profile in Upper from Manage → Users: update vehicle, schedule, start and end addresses, and navigation. Changes apply to future routes.
