Set default service time
Set a default service time in Upper so route ETAs reflect real time spent at each stop. Adjust the per-stop average once in User Settings.
Service time is the average amount of time a driver/technician spends at each stop — parking, walking to the door, completing the delivery or service, and capturing proof. Upper Route Planner adds this value to every stop when it builds and times a route, so setting a realistic number keeps your ETAs and total route duration honest. You set it once as an account default in User Settings.
Why service time matters
Without service time, a route's timeline reflects only drive time between stops, which makes the day look far shorter than it really is. Adding a per-stop average gives the optimizer the on-site time it needs to estimate when each stop will be reached and when the route will finish.
Set the default service time
Open Settings
From the left sidebar, go to Manage > Settings. (You can also reach it from the top-right profile menu under Account > Settings.)
Open User Settings
In the left sub-navigation, under GENERAL, select User Settings.
Enter a service time
Find the Service Time field, labeled Average Time per Stop, and enter the average time a stop takes. The default value is 00:08 (8 minutes).
Save
Click Save at the bottom of the page.
Service Time is one of several account-wide route defaults on the User Settings page, alongside options such as units, what to optimize for, and workload distribution. Changing it sets the average Upper applies going forward.
If your stops vary a lot — quick residential drops versus longer commercial visits — pick an average that reflects your most common stop type. You can refine the number over time as you learn how long your real stops take.

Restrict routes to a specific area
Create a Restricted Area in Upper to flag stops that fall inside no-go zones, so dispatchers can review them before a route is built or dispatched.
Set driver start and end locations
Set where drivers begin and end their routes in Upper's Schedule Settings so optimization sequences the first stop and the return trip correctly.
