Enable barcode scanning
Add up to 5 Barcode or QR-code fields to your stops in Upper. Define them once in Settings, mark them required, and print them on the route manifest.
Upper lets you attach Barcode and QR-code fields to your stops so each delivery carries a scannable identifier. You define these fields once under Settings, choose whether each one is required, and Upper prints them on the route manifest your drivers carry.
Barcode scanning is an add-on you can activate on any plan, so Barcode Fields may not appear until it's enabled on your account. If you don't see it in Settings and want to use it, contact Upper at support@upperinc.com.
Where to find Barcode Fields
Barcode Fields lives in the Customization group of your account settings.
Open Settings
In the left sidebar, go to Manage > Settings.
Open Barcode Fields
In the Settings sub-navigation, under Customization, select Barcode Fields.
Add a barcode field
The Barcode Fields page shows a table titled Additional fields for Stops Barcode with up to 5 rows (Custom Field #1 through #5).
Name the field
In a row, type a title in the Add title box (for example, Tracking ID or Order #).
Choose the type
Open the type dropdown and pick Barcode or QR code.
Mark it required (optional)
Tick Is Required? if a value must be present for the stop.
Turn the field on
Switch the row's toggle on. Off rows are not used.
Save
Select Save Changes.
Barcode values accept uppercase letters (A–Z), digits (0–9), and hyphens. Keep titles short and values clean so they scan reliably.
Auto Generate
Each row also has an Auto Generate option. Tick it when you want Upper to supply the field's value for you rather than entering it by hand on every stop.
How barcodes reach your drivers
When a barcode field is turned on and a stop has a value, Upper renders that value as a printable barcode or QR code on the route manifest. Print or share the manifest and your drivers carry a scannable identifier for each stop.
Your workspace may show Technician and Service labels instead of Driver and Delivery (for example, "Proof of Service"). Both label sets refer to the same features.
