Admin vs Dispatch Manager permissions
Admins manage users, billing, and company settings in Upper Solo. Dispatch Managers handle routes, tracking, and reports — but not billing or account configuration.
Upper Solo's two non-driver roles split responsibility cleanly: Admins control the account, Dispatch Managers run operations. This page explains where the line is.
Why this matters
Choosing the right role at user creation avoids both over-granting (security risk) and under-granting (operations stuck waiting for an Admin to make a small change). The split below is the design intent.
What Admins can do
- Manage users — add, edit, remove team members
- Handle billing and subscription management
- Purchase add-ons and credits
- Configure company-wide settings
- Manage API keys and integrations
- Access every Dispatch Manager function
What Dispatch Managers can do
- Create and assign routes
- Check delivery status and live tracking
- Generate reports
- Manage day-to-day dispatch operations
What Dispatch Managers cannot do
- Change company-wide settings
- Manage billing or subscriptions
- Add or remove users
- Purchase add-ons

Roles are fixed — there are no custom roles or granular per-permission toggles for Admins or Dispatch Managers. Driver permissions, however, are configurable per-driver via Driver App Config.
Common scenarios
- You need someone to monitor live routes while you're out — Dispatch Manager is right. They can watch and reassign, but they can't touch billing or settings.
- You want a backup who can do anything you can — Add them as Admin. Only the Owner can grant Admin.
- You need finer-grained restrictions on a Dispatch Manager — Not available. The role is fixed; if the restriction is needed, evaluate whether they should be a Driver instead.
