See total route distance and estimated time
View total distance, estimated duration, stop count, and per-driver totals in Upper Route Planner — in the My Route Plan list or inside an open route.
Upper Route Planner shows distance, estimated duration, and stop count for every route — both in the My Route Plan list and inside an open route. Use these numbers to validate your planning, balance work across drivers, and spot routes that consistently run long.
Before you start
- Plan — Available on every plan, including Starter.
- Access — Any role with Route Plan access.
- A route in the system — Distance and estimated duration calculate when the route is optimized.
Labels can differ by workspace. This article uses the default driver/delivery labels (such as Assign Drivers and Share to Drivers). If your workspace is set up for field service, you may see Technician and Service instead.
Where to find the metrics
The same numbers appear in two places: the route list and the open route.
In the My Route Plan list
Open Route Plan
In the left sidebar, under the Plan group, select Route Plan. The page is titled My Route Plan.
Read the columns
Each row is a saved route plan. The columns include:
- Distance — total route distance (miles or kilometers, depending on your units)
- Est Duration — estimated time to complete the route
- Total Stops — number of stops in the route
- Completed Stops — stops marked done once the route runs
Depending on your view, an extended column set can also show Start Time, Actual Duration, and Status.
Inside an open route
Open a route to see its totals in the route summary. The summary shows:
- Start date
- Total Driver count
- Average Time Per Route
- Average Distance Per Route
For multi-driver plans, each driver gets a card showing that driver's time, distance, stop count, and route completion percentage.
Per-stop ETAs
Inside an optimized route, the Routes view lists each stop with its estimated arrival time. The first row is the start (depot) with its departure time; each following row shows the ETA for that stop.
ETAs and estimated duration are calculated from distance and historical traffic data — not live traffic. Real-world conditions (traffic on the day, parking, customer hold-ups) cause some variance between the estimate and what actually happens. Service times per stop are the main lever for improving accuracy.
Distance units
Distance and the estimate display in miles or kilometers based on your units setting. You can also set units per route under Advanced Settings (Kilometers / Miles) when building or editing a route.
