Check SMS notification history
Review every customer SMS Upper sent in the Route Plan SMS Detailed Report in Analytics — see the recipient, message, status, segments, and cost per text.
When a customer says their text never arrived, or you want to see exactly what was sent on a route, Upper keeps a record of every customer SMS in Analytics. The Route Plan SMS Detailed Report lists each text alongside its recipient, message, delivery status, and what it cost.
This report covers the automated SMS updates Upper sends to your customers (for example, Out For Delivery and After Delivery). It is one of several report types in Analytics — the matching Route Plan Email Detailed Report does the same for email.
The SMS Detailed and Email Detailed reports are available on the Optimize and Enterprise plans. On Starter and Professional these report types are not shown in the View by dropdown.
Open the SMS report
Go to Analytics in the left sidebar, under the Track group.
Open the View by report dropdown at the top of the page.
Choose Route Plan SMS Detailed Report.
Each row is one SMS tied to a stop on a route, so you can see the route name, the stop, and the customer who received the text in one place.
What each text shows
The report can display a column for each of these fields. Use Customize Columns (the column icon above the table) to check the ones you want and drag to reorder them:
- Route Name and Route Date — the route the text belongs to.
- Driver Name, Stop Address, and Stop No — which stop triggered the message.
- Full Name, Nick Name, Company Name, Email — who the text went to.
- Country Code and Phone number — the recipient's number.
- SMS Type — which notification it was (for example, an out-for-delivery or after-delivery update).
- SMS Message — the exact text that was sent.
- SMS Status — whether the message went through.
- Fail Reason — why a message did not send, when it failed.
- Total Segments and Total SMS Cost — how many message segments the text used and what it cost.
SMS is billed by segment, not by message — a long text counts as more than one segment. The Total Segments and Total SMS Cost columns let you see exactly what a route's texts cost.
Filter to find a specific text
Open the Filters panel (the filter icon above the table) to narrow the list, then click Apply:
- Date Range
- Select Route Plan
- Drivers
- Route Plan Status
- Stop Status
This is the fastest way to pull up the texts for one route or one day when a customer raises a question.
Export the report
To work with the data outside Upper — or to send it to a teammate — click Export at the top right:
Click Export. Choose a format: CSV or XLS.
On the Default tab the standard fields are included. Switch to the Custom tab to pick and reorder exactly which fields you export.
(Optional) Tick Send e-mail when Export is complete if you'd rather be notified than wait.
Click Start Export.
Upper uses driver and Delivery labels by default. A workspace set up for service businesses may instead show Technician and Service (for example, a "Technician Name" column). The report works the same either way.
