Sync contacts with external systems

Keep Upper contacts aligned with a CRM, ERP, or spreadsheet using CSV export and import, or connect an external system through the Upper API.

Most operations run on more than one system — a CRM, an order management tool, or a spreadsheet. Upper does not run a continuous two-way sync with those systems, but you can keep contacts aligned two ways: move data with CSV export and import, or bring contacts in programmatically through the Upper API.

Depending on your workspace setup, some labels may read Technician and Service instead of Driver and Delivery. The steps are the same either way.

Manual sync with CSV

The most direct way to keep contacts aligned is to move a file between Upper and your other system. Upper accepts .csv, .xls, and .xlsx files up to 15 MB.

Export from Upper

On the Manage > Contacts page, open the My Contacts tab and select Export. Choose a default or custom set of fields, then download the file.

Update in your external system

Open the exported file in your CRM, ERP, or spreadsheet, and make your changes there.

Bring the data back into Upper

From the + Add menu on the Contacts page, choose Import Contacts With Preview, upload your file, map the columns, and review before importing.

Match your column names between systems before you export. When the field names line up, column mapping during import is faster and more reliable every time.

Connecting an external system through the API

Adding contacts can be done manually or through the Upper API, so a connected system can push contact records into Upper without a person re-entering them. API access is available on the Optimize and Enterprise plans.

To set up an API connection, get in touch with the Upper team — start a live chat from the chat icon in your dashboard, or email support@upperinc.com.
