Delete contacts
Delete contacts in Upper one at a time from the row Action menu, or several at once by selecting rows. Export a backup first if you may need the data later.
Upper Route Planner lets you remove contacts you no longer need — one at a time from the row Action menu, or several at once by selecting rows in your address book. Cleaning out stale records keeps your contact list searchable and accurate when you build routes.
Export a backup before you delete. If you might need a removed contact again, run an export first — there's no documented way to restore a contact from inside Upper once it's gone.
Before you start
- Where to look — Open Manage > Contacts in the left sidebar.
- Backup — If the data might matter later, export your contacts first. See Export contacts.
- A note on labels — This guide uses Upper's default driver/delivery labels. Your workspace may be configured to show Technician/Service instead; the steps are the same.
Delete a single contact
Open the Contacts page
Go to Manage > Contacts and make sure you're on the My Contacts tab.
Find the contact
Use the Search box or the Filter dropdown to locate the contact you want to remove.
Open the row Action menu
Click the Action (kebab / three-dot) menu at the end of that contact's row.
Select Delete Contact
Choose Delete Contact, then confirm if Upper prompts you.
Delete contacts in bulk
When you select one or more rows, the toolbar switches to bulk actions, including a Delete (trash) action.
Open the Contacts page
Go to Manage > Contacts on the My Contacts tab.
Select the contacts to remove
Tick the checkbox on each contact you want to delete, or use the header select-all checkbox to select the whole list.
Click Delete
In the bulk action bar, click the Delete (trash) action, then confirm if prompted.
Pair the Filter dropdown with bulk delete to clean up in one pass — for example, filter by a Date Range preset to find recently imported rows, or by City/State (or a custom field) to target a specific group, then select all and delete.
Remove a recent address
The Recent Address tab keeps a history of addresses you've used recently. Those entries are separate from your saved contacts and can be deleted from that tab without affecting your My Contacts records.

Create and manage contact groups
Group contacts in Upper with a custom field like Territory or Customer Type, then filter, build routes, or export by group — no separate groups feature needed.
Draw a route manually from contact locations
Switch your contacts to map view in Upper, draw a polygon around any cluster of pins, and turn that selection into a route — ideal for zone-based planning.
