Select multiple contacts for a route

Select saved contacts in bulk in Upper, then turn them into a new route or add them to an existing one. Use row checkboxes or select-all to build routes fast.

Your Contacts list in Upper is your saved address book. Instead of re-entering stops one by one, you can select several contacts at once and send them straight into a route. Tick the contacts you want, and Upper swaps the toolbar to a set of bulk actions — including starting a new route or adding the contacts to an existing one.

Before you start

  • Where it lives — Open Contacts from the left sidebar (the My Contacts tab).
  • What you can do — Select one or more contacts, then create a new route from them or add them to an existing route.
  • Depot address — If your workspace has no start (depot) address set yet, Upper asks you to add one before it builds a new route.

Select contacts and start a route

Open your Contacts

Go to Contacts in the left sidebar and stay on the My Contacts tab. Your saved contacts appear in the table view.

Tick the contacts you want

Use the checkbox at the start of each row to select a contact. Select as many rows as you need. To grab everything in the current view at once, use the select-all checkbox in the table header.

Use the bulk action menu

As soon as one or more rows are selected, the toolbar switches to bulk actions: a Favourite (star) action, a Delete (trash) action, and a + menu. Open the + menu and choose what to do with your selection.

Send the selection to a route

From the + menu:

  • Create New Route — builds a brand-new route from the selected contacts.
  • Add To Existing Route — adds the selected contacts as stops to a route you already have.

If no start (depot) address is set, Upper prompts you to add one before creating the new route.

Filter first, then select. Narrow the list with the Filter dropdown (for example, by City or State) so only the contacts you want are showing, then use the select-all checkbox. It is cleaner than scrolling the full address book and unticking the ones you do not need.

Filter to select faster

Building a route for one area or customer type? Use filters to shrink the list before you select.

Open the Filter dropdown

On the My Contacts tab, open Filter. You can filter by City, State, a Date Range of when contacts were added, and by any custom contact fields your workspace has set up. Each filter popover has Search, Select All, Reset, and Apply.

Apply the filter

Pick your values and click Apply. The table now shows only the matching contacts.

Select and route

Use the select-all checkbox to grab the filtered results, then open the + menu and choose Create New Route or Add To Existing Route.

Depending on your workspace setup, the route and driver screens may show Technician and Service labels instead of Driver and Delivery. The steps are the same — only the wording changes.
