Invite and manage users

Add users to Upper Route Planner, assign roles, and manage them from Manage > Users — reset passwords, deactivate licenses, and log a user out of all devices.

Everyone on your team — dispatchers and drivers alike — is added as a user under Manage > Users. From this page you add people, assign their roles, and manage them over time: reset a password, deactivate a license, or sign someone out everywhere.

Depending on how your workspace is set up, this page may be titled Users/Drivers or Users/Technicians. It's the same page either way.

The Users page

Open it from the left sidebar: Manage > Users. The page lists everyone on your account.

Each row shows:

ColumnWhat it tells you
Full NameThe person's name
EmailTheir sign-in email
PhoneTheir contact number
License StatusActive or Inactive
RoleOne or more of Admin, Dispatch Manager, Driver
App Config StatusGeneral (using the shared driver-app config) or Modified (a custom config for this person)
Service AreaThe coverage zones assigned to them, with an Assign Area link
ActionThe row's … menu (see below)

The top of the page shows your license counts — Purchased Licence and Active User Licence — and the + Add User button.

Add a user

Open the add panel

On the Users page, click + Add User. A panel slides in from the right.

Choose the role

In User Role, select one or more roles — Driver, Dispatch Manager, or Admin. See User roles explained.

Enter their details

Fill in Name, Email, and Phone.

Set driver details (for drivers)

If the person is a driver, set their routing details — such as Vehicle Profile or Vehicle Type, Navigation Map, Avoid preferences, Start Address and End Address, and their Shift Schedule (start time, end time, and breaks). These give Upper what it needs to route and dispatch to them.

Save

Save the panel. The new user appears in the list.

Each active user takes up one license. If your account has reached its purchased license count, + Add User prompts you to upgrade instead of opening the add panel. If you need more seats, contact support@upperinc.com.

Manage an existing user

Open the … (Action) menu on any user's row:

ActionWhat it does
Edit UserReopen the panel to change roles, contact details, or driver settings
Reset User PasswordSend the user a password reset
Technician App ConfigSet a custom driver-app config just for this person
Inactive UserDeactivate the license (the person can no longer sign in)
Logout From All DevicesSign the user out everywhere
Delete UserRemove the user from the account

Deactivate vs. delete

  • Inactive User keeps the person's record but turns off their sign-in and frees their license — useful for seasonal staff or someone who has left temporarily.
  • Delete User removes them entirely. Use deactivate if you may need them back.

Assign coverage zones

If your account uses service areas, click Assign Area on a driver's row to choose which zones they cover. See Use service areas for driver assignment.
