Integrations
Connect Upper Route Planner to the other tools you already use. Pull store orders in as stops, push route and stop events to your own systems with webhooks, and use the API to bring work in automatically.
Upper Route Planner works alongside the tools you already use. You can connect an online store so orders flow in as stops, send route and stop events to your own systems with webhooks, and use the API to bring work in without re-typing it. This page is your starting point for each of those.
Upper uses the label driver by default, but your workspace may show Technician instead (and delivery may appear as service). The integration steps are the same whichever labels your account uses.
Where integrations live
Most integration setup happens in two places in the web app at my.upperinc.com:
- Manage → Marketplace — store connections and paid add-ons.
- Settings → Webhooks — your API Token and outbound webhook URLs.
Connect a store
Bring orders from your online store into Upper as stops, with no manual data entry.
Webhooks
Send route and stop events from Upper to your own systems automatically.
API access
Use your API Token to bring contacts, stops, and tasks into Upper programmatically.
Marketplace add-ons
Optional paid extras like SMS balance and multiple email notifications.
Connect a store
Open Manage → Marketplace, then switch to the Integration tab. Each available store shows a card with a short description and a button to set it up. Once a store is connected, its orders come into Upper as stops you can add to a route — so you don't have to copy addresses by hand.
Upper currently supports connecting these stores:
- WooCommerce
- Shopify
- GrazeCart
- QuickBooks
The Marketplace Integration tab may list additional platforms. Treat a platform as supported only when its card lets you complete a connection. If a platform shows Coming Soon, it isn't available to connect yet. For the current list for your account, open Manage → Marketplace → Integration or contact support@upperinc.com.
How a connection works
Open the Integration tab
Go to Manage → Marketplace and select the Integration tab.
Choose your store and start the connection
Find your store's card and choose the option to set it up. Upper opens a panel titled "Connect [store] to Upper" where you enter your store details — typically your store name and store URL, and (for some platforms) an API access token from your store.
Authorize the connection
Follow the prompts to authorize Upper to access your store. For some platforms this happens on your store's own login/authorization screen; for others you paste an API access token from your store into Upper.
Confirm it's active
When the connection succeeds, the store shows an Active status with a verified check mark.
Set up a connected store
Once a store is connected, open it from the Integration tab to manage it. A connected store has its own tabs:
- Connections — see the connected store, when it was connected, and its Active status. You can add another connection or disconnect one here.
- Configuration — control how orders flow in:
- Order Settings — choose when Upper should automatically mark an order as completed in your store (for example, once the matching stop is finished in Upper).
- Match the Data — map your store's fields to Upper's data categories (address, name, phone, email, and so on). The address field is required.
- Contact Configuration — (WooCommerce) map fields used to build your Upper contacts/address book from store data.
- About — a description of what the integration does and when it was connected.
There's also a FAQs panel on the connected-store page with answers specific to that platform.
If you used Upper's sample template when preparing your data, the columns line up with Upper's data categories automatically. If you didn't, use Match the Data on the Configuration tab to map them yourself.
Disconnect a store
On the connected store's page, use the three-dot menu next to the store (or the Disconnect option on a specific connection) to remove it. Upper asks you to confirm before disconnecting.
Webhooks
Webhooks let Upper notify your own systems automatically when something happens, by sending a request to a URL you control. You set them up in Settings → Webhooks, which has two tabs:
- Webhook URL — where you add the URLs Upper should call, and where your API Token is shown.
- Webhook History List — a record of webhook activity.
Add a webhook URL
Open Settings → Webhooks
In the left sidebar go to Settings, then choose Webhooks. Stay on the Webhook URL tab.
Enter your URL
Add your endpoint in one of the Web Hook URL fields. Upper validates that the URL is well-formed; an invalid URL is flagged so you can correct it. You can add up to three webhook URLs.
Test the URL
Use the Test button next to a URL to send a request and confirm your endpoint responds. A successful response (such as 200 or 204) is marked accordingly.
Save
Choose Save to store your webhook URLs.
The Webhook History List tab keeps a record of webhook activity so you can review what was sent.
API access
Upper gives each account an API Token so your own systems can send work into Upper without anyone re-typing it. You'll find the token in Settings → Webhooks, on the Webhook URL tab — use the copy button to copy it to your clipboard.
With the API you can bring work into Upper programmatically, including:
- Contacts — add to your address book.
- Stops — create the stops that go on a route.
- Tasks — create tasks via the API.
API integration is available on the Optimize and Enterprise plans. If you don't see API access on your account, check your plan with your account owner or contact support@upperinc.com.
Keep your API Token private. Anyone with it can send data into your Upper account. If you need it rotated, contact support@upperinc.com.
Marketplace add-ons
The Marketplace tab (the other tab in Manage → Marketplace) is where you turn on optional paid extras for your account:
- Notifications and Alerts — top up an SMS balance for sending text updates to your customers, with an option to auto-recharge and to set an alert for a minimum balance.
- Multiple Email Notifications — a paid add-on that lets you send notifications to more than one email address per stop, so every relevant party is kept in the loop.
Billing for Upper, including add-ons, is handled through Stripe.
