SMS balance and auto-recharge
Add to your SMS balance, set a low-balance alert, and enable auto-recharge for text notifications in Upper Route Planner. Powered by the Notifications and Alerts add-on.
Customer text (SMS) notifications in Upper Route Planner are funded by an SMS balance. You top up and manage that balance from the Notifications and Alerts add-on in the Marketplace.
This article uses Upper's default labels (driver, delivery). Your workspace may be set up to show Technician and Service instead — the wording is configurable, but the steps are the same.
Open Notifications and Alerts
In the left sidebar, open Manage > Marketplace, then find the Notifications and Alerts card. It shows your Current Balance and an Add Balance button.
Add to your balance
Open the card
Go to Manage > Marketplace and find the Notifications and Alerts card.
Add balance
Select Add Balance and follow the prompts to top up.
Set a low-balance alert and auto-recharge
The Notifications and Alerts card includes two ways to avoid running out:
- Set alert for minimum balance — get notified when your balance drops below a level you choose.
- Auto recharge — automatically top up your balance so notifications keep sending.
The exact top-up amounts, SMS pricing per message or segment, and the detailed auto-recharge settings are being confirmed and aren't published here yet. Contact support@upperinc.com for current SMS pricing.
Where SMS costs show up
SMS usage is reported alongside your notification activity, including columns such as Total SMS Cost, Total Segments, SMS Status, and Fail Reason. A single text message may be split into multiple segments, and each segment counts toward usage.
