API & Integrations

An overview of how Upper connects to your other systems — find your API token, send live updates with webhooks, and connect an existing store or platform.

Upper can connect to the other systems you already run — your store, your dispatch tools, or your own software. Instead of re-keying every order or address by hand, you can let another system feed work into Upper and let Upper push updates back out as things happen on the road.

There are two building blocks for connecting Upper to the outside world: an API token that identifies your account, and webhooks that send updates out of Upper the moment something changes. This page explains where each one lives and how to set it up.

This guide uses Upper's default driver and delivery labels (Assign Drivers, Proof of Delivery, Delivery Options). Your workspace may be set to show Technician and Service instead. Both label sets control the same features.

This is an overview of how connections work in Upper. A full, endpoint-by-endpoint API reference is not published here yet. If you need detailed API documentation to build a custom integration, contact support@upperinc.com.

What you can connect

Find your API token

Your API token is the credential that lets another system identify itself to your Upper account. It lives in Settings, alongside your webhook setup.

Open Webhooks in Settings

In the left sidebar, go to Manage > Settings, then open the Webhooks section.

Open the Webhook URL tab

The Webhooks page has two tabs: Webhook URL and Webhook History List. Open the Webhook URL tab.

Copy your API Token

At the top of the tab is an API Token field. It is read only — you can't type over it. Use the copy button next to it to copy the token to your clipboard.

Treat your API token like a password. Anyone who has it can act against your Upper account, so only share it with systems and people you trust.

Set up webhooks

A webhook lets Upper send an update out to a web address (a URL) you control, automatically, so your other systems can react to what's happening in Upper without anyone checking manually.

Go to the Webhook URL tab

Open Manage > Settings > Webhooks and stay on the Webhook URL tab.

Enter a webhook URL

Add the web address where you want Upper to send updates. You can add more than one URL here.

Test the URL

Use the Test button next to a URL to send a test call and confirm the address responds.

Save

Choose Save to keep your webhook URLs.

You can review past webhook activity on the Webhook History List tab.

The web address you enter has to be reachable from the internet and ready to receive Upper's request. If you're not sure what to put here, ask whoever manages the system you're connecting to.

Connect an existing store or platform

If you already run an online store or platform, you can connect it to Upper so that orders come in as work to route — instead of re-entering each one. Store and platform connections are managed under Manage > Marketplace on the Integration tab.

When you add a connection, Upper asks for the details that platform needs to link up — typically your store URL and an API token or store name from that platform. The exact fields depend on the platform you're connecting.

For platform-specific connection details and the current list of supported platforms, check the Integration tab in Marketplace or contact support@upperinc.com.

Where this fits

  • Bringing work in — A connected store or platform, or a system that uses your API token, can create stops, contacts, and tasks in Upper instead of you adding them by hand.
  • Pushing updates out — Webhooks let Upper notify your systems when something changes, so they stay in sync automatically.

API integration is available on the Optimize and Enterprise plans. Store and platform connections in the Marketplace are available more broadly. If an option described here isn't visible on your account, your plan may not include it — contact support@upperinc.com to confirm what's available.
